"We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.

In this process, the individual confirms a decision which he or she has already made and whose effects on his or her life the person has already experienced. While the decision is felt to be the “right one,” the individual still has some minor but nagging doubts. While in hypnosis, the person is invited to go back to the moment when she actually took one path rather than another. She is then asked to “take the other path” to “try it out” right through to the end of her life on that path, at which point she gathers insight about that road not taken. Other techniques are used to help her investigate the positives of that path as well as some negatives; with knowledge of the helpful aspects of the path not taken in this life, the individual might thereby want to change something in her current path.
The process ends with the individual’s being brought back to the decision point where she once again accepts and affirms the current path, possibly with some modifications to enhance and advance what she wants.
