DESCRIPTION OF WORKSHOP:
Used by every culture for thousands of years, Divination is the art and practice of discerning probable futures and probing the present reality for its deeper significance. Many cultures have been highly dependent on their diviners to guide them through the unknown. The Greeks, Romans, Chinese, Babylonians, Egyptians, Celts, Tibetans and Native Americans and other indigenous cultures like the Naskapi from Labrador are among those cultures preeminent in divination practice.
There are innumerable methods for divination, including, but certainly not limited to, scrying (using shells, smoke, mirrors, clouds, water, oil, wax, crystals, etc.), dowsing (using pendulums and forked sticks), card decks like the various Tarots, numerology, oracles and mediums and psychics, the Quija Board, astrology, automatic writing, tea leaves, animal (and human) entrails, muscle reading, omens, remote viewing, sortilege or the casting of lots (including runes and I Ching sticks or coins), shamanic journeying, and hypnotic modalities (including future progression). The workshop will begin with a brief check-in and then a short discussion of the nature, sources and kinds of divination, as well as guidelines for practice. The rest of the workshop will focus on our practicing various forms of divination as individuals, in dyads, and as a group.
